P.E. and Sport
P.E. and Sport is very important at Hermitage, and we are lucky to have a number of dedicated teachers that teach P.E. from Reception through to Year 6.
We offer a wide variety of sporting clubs and regularly take part in weekly football and netball matches against other schools.
Swimming
Swimming is an important skill and can encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.
In accordance with the National Curriculum, schools must provide swimming instruction either in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. The programme of study for P.E. sets out the expectation that pupils should be taught to:
-
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
-
Use a range of strokes effectively - for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.
-
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
